Mew approaches jewelry making with a background in sculpture, printmaking and ceramics. After she took time off from art-making when her kids were young, she realized that she wanted to find a medium that was more immediate and that can be done in a New York City apartment. She enrolled in her first class at the Jewelry Center at the 92nd Street Y a few years ago and has been hooked ever since.
Mew designs and fabricates covetable pieces made with precious metals and gemstones. She incorporates antique finds and found objects in her pieces directly or by exploring multiples through the casting process. She approaches her work with a sense of form, texture and wearability.
Mew lives in New York City with her husband, 2 kids and mini-golden doodle, Eevee.
